kiko+ and gg*
kukkia, meaning ‘to bloom’ or ‘flowers’ in finnish and ‘kuki’ which means stem in japanese, is a toy brand from japan. kukkia creates tactile shapes that are both subtly and vividly coloured, that kids can use their amazing imaginations to create and express themselves with.
kukkia has two collections—the first, gg* , has subtle, soft muted colours that show the natural grain of the wood. most items are finished with bees wax and come in their own cotton eco-bag. their second collection, kiko+ was launched in 2011 at maison & objet show in paris. kiko+ is a collection using funky, vivid colours on matte and unvarnished surfaces so children can feel the wonderful texture of wood.
kukkia respects finite sources and the environment in their production process, using only FSC approved and responsibly sourced wood.
